London in Motion

If you are interested in buying prints, making an order, seeing what else I have to offer or just get to know me as a photographer better please visit my website.

I've been very busy lately, I've moved from Kingston to Vauxhall now and it took me like four days so I'm super happy it's done. I might show you a couple of pics of my new flat once it's all cozy but for now there's something else. My photographic exhibition "London in Motion" is now over so now I can show you little previews (or now "afterviews":)) of what was up there.

Rock the Hippie

All photos by Ray Liu.

So I had this quick lookbook shoot some days ago and I didn't feel like posting those here because to be honest I'm not a big fan of those pics (and that's not the photographer, I feel like it's me, wasn't in the mood + the weather and the rush) but the weather is getting nicer and I really like this outfit, so since I won't be able to shoot it anytime soon there you go.
I totally understand why maxi-skirts are so popular! This one is my everyday one, I even travel in it (not wearing killer-heels obviously), it works well with any sorts of shoes, it's super-comfortable for streets, beaches, meetings, dates, oh whatever, a long skirt makes everything better!
The leather jacket from Max&Co is my absolute love right now, the color is gorgeous, it's edgy, and it's not like I have a lot of really edgy items in my closet, I usually go for chic and elegance, but I love showing a little of my rock'n'roll side with this jacket. And actually it works really well with wayfarers.

giveaway winner announced + NEW giveaway

So, I am happy to announce the winner of my first giveaway - it is number 82 (ne-knopka) and her name is also Anna. Also she was one of the ones that reposted the giveaway and therefore got 5 entries instead of 1 so as you see it is worth doing :) Congratulations, Anna, your prize, Burt's Bees Cranberry&Pomegranate Sugar Body Scrub, will be on its way shortly!

I am also happy to announce that I'm starting another giveaway. I am a huge fan of Benefit cosmetics so there are 3 best-selling products I'd like to introduce:

1. the POREfessional - this is a great thing that I use instead of BB cream and I think it really does work better, it's really light and minimizes the appearance of the pores.
(22ml worth 23.50 pounds)
2. Sugarbomb lipgloss - gives the perfect effect of natural, wet, juicy lips.
(15ml worth 13.50 pounds)
3. High beam - a highlighter to be applied on cheekbones, under and above the eyebrows and any other zone you want to define, also you need a very small amount of it so it lasts like forever.
(15ml worth 18.50 pounds)
How to enter the giveaway:
Step 1 - Follow my blog via GFC and Bloglovin'
Step 2 - Post a comment saying which one of the three products introduced is of most interest to you (if you won't state it I will just send you the cheapest one if you happen to win)
Step 3 - Re-blog or tweet a link to this giveaway (this step is not compulsory, but if you provide me with such link you will get 5 entries instead of 1)

How it works:
When you leave a comment and I approve your entry you will be given your number(s). Random number generator will pick one lucky winner to whom I will send the chosen product in a month from now - the giveaway will end on the 19th of September

Good luck! :)

Carluccio's

First of all I'd like to remind you that I have a GIVEAWAY ending tomorrow evening, that's when I'll announce the winner and probably begin a new giveaway (I am planning to have those monthly) so that is your last chance to enter if you didn't yet and do make sure you keep an eye of those (but of course I will contact the lucky winner).

Ok, so back to business now :) I just had dinner at one of the Carluccio's restaurants and this is definitely my new favorite restaurant network. Now why is that? It's pretty and cozy, it's open till late (I think today it was 11pm), it suits all occasions - romantic dinner, lunch for one, friendly talks... and they have great wine!

The staff was super-friendly, I never had to wait or ask twice or anything like that. Also, what I loved, you can order half portions, so this way you can save some place for both a salad/soup and a main course and maybe even a desert :) The menu is pretty varied so trust me, you will want to save that space :)

I had a salad and a mushroom risotto, the offer a couple of seasonal risottos you should ask for. I tasted so many mushroom risottos in my life it's incredible and I have to say this one was pretty good. But the true masterpieces are the deserts - they have more than 10 I think and they all sound super-tasty, it was very hard to pick one and I was already full but just had to try it. And when I saw it it was love from the first sight :)

And finally they offer cooking classes, sell fine Italian food to cook at home and even offer picnics you can pre-order (I will definitely try that out)!

Lilac Lush

So here comes the second part of photos from my rainy day with Ray Liu. As usual I had my hair done but the rain pretty much ruined it. That day I challenged myself to style the Diana Kurves blazer and the outfit I ended up putting together looked complete without the blazer too.

I am a huge fan of silk blouses, I have like 10, they always look chic and are great for adding some color while still keeping elegant and somewhat official. Also I love the details on the skirt and it is exactly right for my body type. And in case you didn't know - I am crazy about colorful lipsticks, I also have around 10, from ginger to bordeaux, these are the greatest accessories and can brighten up every outfit. Usually I don't wear that much jewelry but this time it felt right.

A day in London

I figured I'd tell you a little about my day or what I enjoy doing in London when I have nothing to do :)

First I had my nails done at the Covent Garden Salon. I actually spent ages looking for a salon that'd suit me perfectly and that's the closest I got. It is a bit on the expensive side, but I like the location, they do all sorts of treatments I need and do them well, everyone is super-sweet there and they have wifi. Also I have a huge problem with time management and I'm usually always late and they don't mind it that much. They have another branch called the Soho Salon and there's pretty much no difference. And they do shellac for both manicure and pedicure which doesn't seem to happen in London that often and I'm a huge fan of shellac, pedicure looks descent for more than a month and my manicure never lasts longer than two days without shellac so that's the only way for me. There's not many colors to pick but I have one or two that I really like.

Actually this time I mixed up the time and arrived early so I had a breakfast in Starbucks and I rarely have breakfast as I'm always late. But when I do I have tuna melt panini and mango & passionfruit smoothie. I also had strawberries & cream frappuccino which I quite enjoy when I don't feel like coffee, it reminds me of strawberry sundaes they make in McDonald's in Tallinn but never saw any in London or Paris.

So after getting my nails done I went to Tate Modern to see the Edvard Munch exhibition. I was actually hired to write an article about it but I would go anyways, since Edvard Munch is my favorite painter of all times. I think that he is very underestimated, I mean "The Scream" is a genius painting, but he has so many other ones worth admiring. His paintings, despite their simplicity, convey extremely strong emotions and his imagery reminds me of Edgar Poe, another genius I admire.
The exhibition overall was quite worth it (and I'm so buying Tate membership, I go there way too often), I found it smaller than "L'anti cri" I saw in Paris a couple of years ago, yet it still reveals quite a lot about Munch. Personally I liked the second, red room the most, it shows first versions of some of his greatest paintings and then the versions that were painted about 20 years later, I would live in this room :)
Also I got myself an umbrella. First of all it was raining, second of all I keep losing them all the time so I figured it'd be better to buy one expensive and nice one I would never forget somewhere and I'd enjoy carrying with me.

Also I love the area around Tate Modern, so much fun was going on there and it's so pretty, I can't wait to move to Vauxhall! I very much enjoyed the street piano project, shame they'll be gone tomorrow, I did IB music in high school but I don't have a piano now and I miss it. And also, did you ever notice the view from the top floors of Tate?

To a Stranger

As promised, a video of me performing one of my poems. The performance went well, I had 20 minutes but only recorded this poem, my first UK one :) Also check out the other poets that performed last night - Carmina Masoliver and Sam Coles-Rogers

Words, words, words...

Soooo... Tonight is the IYAF 2012 poetry night where I'll be performing alongside Carmina Masoliver and three other young talented poets, I am extremely excited and a little nervous. I will try to get someone record a couple of minutes of my performance (it'll be 20 mins overall) but not sure I'll be able to do that since all of my friends are out of town :( Well, summer in London sucks, can't blame them.
So I am going to start preparing now (yeah, last minute, as always) and if someone wants to come it's @7pm tonight (10th July) @ The Cricketers Kingston (Kingston-upon-Thames, not Richmond or London or whatever). Wish me luck! :)

Diana Kurves

This jacket is my absolute new love! I love shopping for exclusive designer clothing, it's often stylish, unique and not that expensive. Honestly I don't enjoy seeing the same clothes I'm wearing on other people, I don't like when people look alike, so I do spare time to search for something more unique and there you go - an amazing jacket by an Estonian designer Diana Kurves. It is a bit difficult to style as it is quite a complex piece by itself but I think I managed.

This is a sneak peak of what's underneath, I'm going to show the whole outfit without the jacket in a couple of days, the whole outfit is just too much for one post. :)

A walk by the sea

Had a lovely walk by the sea with my mum today, admired the beauty of my town before leaving :)

Blog Updates

Hey guys, I've been away for a couple of days, I'm really busy now and I am still not quite happy with what my blog is, but there's good news:
1. I am returning to London on the 4th of July and then my blog will become much more lifestyle focused.
2. I found a couple of great photographers to work with me for my blog and lookbook, so I'll be taking fashion in this blog to a whole new level, hopefully posting a look a week starting next week.
3. I'll be reading my poetry on a major festival event on the 10th of July (will give more details soon) and hopefully will post a couple of videos from there (you know I'm a poet but there's never been any proof, gonna change that :))

So, that's pretty much it for now + an angry picture of me to attract attention :)
